I made this wrap several years ago. Then I lost a lot of weight. It got so big on me that it didn't 'feel' right anymore. So, I unraveled it! Yep, all the way down to the two balls that you see at the bottom of the middle photo. Looks may be deceiving ... that large ball of yarn measures over a foot around! The new look [photo on the right] shows the colors much better.
For the original project I bought a Lion's Brand book titled Homespun: 7 Crochet Patterns for the Family. The pattern is called Romanesque Wrap. I used Homespun® Windsor. It's a medium blue with lavender and a touch of green (see the bar below). As for the weight catagory, Lion Brand gives it a 5; bulky. Each skein is 6 ounces (185 yd). I used 9 skeins for this project. This is a beautifully colored yarn but it does stretch a lot. Washing it does put it back into shape though.

The new coat is also from the same book. This time I modified the Easy Shawl Collar Jacket pattern. I actually used two strands of yarn throughout. I just added Red Heart SS in black to the Homespun Windsor. By using the second strand, I've noticed that my coat doesn't stretch as quickly.

I folded the front edges back a bit all the way down the front of the piece. I then stitched it down in a way that I have pockets for my gloves. happy clapping I don't have buttons or buttonholes; I placed two buttons across from one another and chained loops to keep it together.
