Man's Wool Sweater
I found the Lion Brand Wool-Ease® yarn on sale at Hancock Fabrics and knew I had to make something for my husband. The color has been discontinued ... it's really a bit more green than the photo shows. It was named Spruce. Lion Brand gives it a weight catagory of 4, which is medium. Each skein is 3oz/197 yds. The pattern is a variation of a pattern from an American School of Needlework book called The Learn to Crochet a Sweater Book. It features Lion Brand's Wool-Ease® sportweight yarn. You can find it here. [Clicking on the previous sentence will open a new window that will take you to Leisure Arts Inc. they have the book available for purchase] I followed the pattern that is titled Bobbles with Ribbing on page 70. However, I didn't make bobbles. On Row 2 I single crocheted in the first stitch, chained 1, skipped the next stitch, single crochet in the following stitch. I did that all the way across. On Row 3, I single crocheted in the first 2 stitches, chained 1, skipped the next stitch, single crocheted in the following stitch. I did that until the last 2 stitches. I single crocheted in each of the last two stitches. For the remaining rows, I repeated Rows 2 and 3. If there was an increase, I increased; if there was a decrease, I decreased. This was the first sweater that I ever made. The directions were easy to follow and the results were great. My hubby likes the feel of the sweater. |
