Urban Girl Cropped Cardi is a free pattern that is available at
Lion Brand's Website.
I thought it was so cute and wanted to give it a try. My problem [not a REAL problem]
was that I wanted to make it for our youngest gran'girl. She's only 16 months old; the pattern's smallest size is for a child's 7-8! So, here's what I did:
For this project I used two strands of crochet thread size 10. It was from Aunt Lydia's but I don't remember the name of the color. I think it was the light peach, but I've had this thread for a while and the wrap is gone from it.
Each cone has 350 yards to it. This little cardi took less than the 700 yards to make; I did have some left over.
The gauge for the pattern was not going to work for me. I was using a different fiber AND making it for a much smaller cutie. By having mommy and daddy measure her waist, I had an idea how to do the pattern. I ended up using a G hook for the project. As you can see from the picture, it fits her very nicely. I'm very pleased. This adorable little cardi only took me an evening to make.
The button that is on her little cardi was from my grandmother's stash ... her great-great grandmother!
I will definitely use this pattern again. I hope you'll give it a try too!
